WHY THIS FORUM?

Cybersecurity: Raising Awareness and Taking Action

While 2022 has been a record-breaking year for cyberattacks, there is little expectation that the pace of cyber incidents will slow in 2023. Despite increasing investments in cybersecurity, companies must also work on raising awareness and training their employees. Even with 2022 not yet over, it's already clear that records will be set in terms of security (cyber and otherwise) attacks. Recently, Beltug, the association of CIOs and digital technology leaders, noted that security and privacy awareness, along with IT security governance strategy, were among the top three priorities for Belgian ICT decision-makers. Additionally, six of the top ten priorities were related to cybersecurity. Agoria, the federation of technology companies, released a study revealing that Belgium faced no less than 37,982 cybercrime incidents in 2021—over 100 attacks daily, a 37% increase compared to 2019. Also, in 2020, 42% of Belgian SMEs reported experiencing a cyber incident.

Moreover, remote work and the accelerated shift to digital and cloud environments have underscored the critical need to deploy an effective security strategy. Organizations now require platforms and data to be accessible remotely and on a 24/7/365 basis. Employees and partners (customers, suppliers, etc.) expect constant access to the organization’s IT resources and data. Consequently, the boundaries of corporate activity are blurring, and security has become global and omnipresent.

Following the Security Forum events held in Belgium since 2018 and the inaugural Security Forum in France in April 2022, event organizer Mark-Com Event will host the 6th Belgian edition of the Security Forum Belgium on October 5, 2023, in partnership with the Cyber Security Coalition. This event will offer an opportunity to address the challenges of securing an increasingly international, digital, and connected environment. The aim is to provide business leaders and IT decision-makers with a practical approach to their concerns by presenting the latest technological developments in this field and connecting them with industry professionals who can support their security policies.
