Why this Forum :
CYBERSECURITY: FROM AWARENESS TO ACTION
During 2021, no less than 42% of Belgian companies have suffered a cyberattack, more than 30% were attacked on two or more occasions, and nearly 20% even suffered more than 15 attacks. Proof that it is high time to react...
According to ‘Cyber Readiness Report 2021’, Belgium has suffered more ransomware attacks than the other countries in the study (France, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, the United Kingdom and the United States, except for Germany). Another striking lesson of the study is that 58% of the affected companies pay the ransom demanded. At the same time, Belgian companies are those who spend the least on their cyber protection. For example, our country spends an average of $1.8 billion per year, compared to $5.5 million for Germany.
In addition, the coronavirus and teleworking, not to mention the increasing digitalisation within companies, have reminded us of the absolute urgency of having an effective security strategy within organisations whose IT platforms and data must be accessible remotely and 24/7/365. From now on, both employees and business partners (customers, suppliers, etc.) expect to have access to the organisation’s IT resources and data at all times. As a result, the perimeter of a company’s activities is becoming blurred and security is becoming both global and omnipresent.
Echoing the Security Forum of 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022 organised in Belgium as well as the first Security Forum organised in France last April, the event organiser Mark-Com Event will propose the 7th Belgian edition of Security Forum on October 5 in partnership with Cyber Security Coalition.
This event will be an opportunity to take stock of the security challenges of an increasingly global, digital and connected environment. Its ambition is to provide company managers and decision-makers with a practical response to their concerns by presenting the latest technological developments in this field a nd b y e nabling them to meet the actors or players in the field l ikely t o support them in their security approach. Visitors will be able to follow a day of inspiring conferences, structured around presentations on data protection and security, cybersecurity, networks, etc.
